AGAPE LOVE

St. Constance J. Williams, MIS
COGASOC Website Editor

When you really think about it, relationships are everything...essentially they are all that exist. Nothing has meaning until you decide how it relates to you. It is the process of making these associations that will determine the results of our many life experiences. We are creatures of love in what appears to be a world of hate, fear, separation, and economic depression. However, agape love changes all of these emotions. Many believe that love centers around the following relational levels:
Eros love - known as 'erotic love' based on strong romantic feelings towards another.
Philos love - a love based on friendship between two people who share a mutual, 'give-and- take' relationship.
Agape love - unconditional love that is always giving and impossible to take or be a taken. It devotes total commitment to seek your highest potential no matter how anyone else may respond. This form of love is totally selfless and does not change whether the love given is returned or not. This is the original and only true form of love.
Let us dig deeper:
· Agape love is seeing the answer and sharing it;
· Agape love is never judgmental and is patient with anything that must be learned;
· Agape love shows omission of demands or requirements;
· Agape love is authentic truth that changeth not, no matter what appears to be;
· Agape love knows not of time for the element of time does not exist in heaven; and,
· Agape love is unconditional forgiveness for any event or circumstance.
God has sent the Holy Spirit to comfort and guide us, as we see that this world is upside down and often times totally backwards in thought processes. This world as we know it teaches taking. God teaches giving. This world as we know it teaches that fear is necessary to survive, but God teaches that love casts out all fear for love is the fulfilling of the law. We will only truly live when we cast out all fear and embrace agape love. Every lesson or guideline that ever truly came from God could only have originated from the unchangeable spirit of his unconditional (agape) love and endless patience, grace, and mercy. If there is doubt, visit John 3:16.
God’s truths speak of genuine love. We do know the truth when we hear it because God created us in his image; therefore, we, too, are agape love. Once we learn to truly embrace this, we will remember who we really are and then we'll wake up to see our creator right where He has always been....everywhere....above us, beside us, below us, within us every where. Beloved, let us love one another for God is of love, love is of God; and whosoever loves has been born of God and knows God. For biblical reference on loving with agape love, visit Romans 13:8, Galatians 5:13, Ephesians 4:2, 1 Peter 1:22, and 1 John 4:7.|

During this fall season, we are privileged to bear witness to the handiwork of God as we see the colors of leaves change, the strength of the wind, the coolness of the air, the sun's rising and setting, and so much more. As we travel through life, our journey may seem long and uncertain at times, making it is so easy to take our blessings for granted. We sing, "He's got the power in His hands", but often times we are quick to forget that undeniable security that we have in our Father and Savior...More - Click Here. |
